Resumen: | AbstractThe aim of this paper is to analyse different translated texts applying the theoretical principles provided by the Manipulation School, which include the notions of ‘equivalence’ and ‘translation norms’. The key point to be considered is that the act of translating is not neutral in the sense that translation shapes the way in which the target reader receives a work, an author, or a culture. In the present analysis, two examples will be discussed in which the translators have manipulated the source texts for different reasons: a literary translation concerned with the question of dialect and social class; and the translation of a newspaper article manipulated for political and ideological reasons. |
