Greco-Roman authors displayed in their writings a distorted version of the real female context, prejudiced and in many cases far from the real situation experienced by the Roman woman. However, this is not the actual image that presented all the matrons of the Empire in their daily practices. In fact, we cannot be sure precisely which gender relations were established according to social groups. Added to that is the omission of real data that in literary sources, mostly of a male origin, suggest the constant detriment of women relative to men.
