Unas de las consecuencias más frecuentes en niños es la pérdida de espacio prematuro de dientes deciduos por extracciones dentarias como consecuencias de caries dental o traumatismos, la necesidad de diseñar una estrategia eficiente para contrarrestarlas, motivan este estudio de caso, cuyo objetivo es, describir la técnica y evolución de un mantenedor de espacio fijo, en paciente con perdida prematura de dientes temporarios del sector anterosuperior, como alternativa para devolverle la estética, función y longitud del arco maxilar. Materiales y métodos usados en el trabajo son: bandas y arco metálico número nueve, acrílico, dientes artificiales. El proceso práctico consistió en colocar el mantenedor fijado en los molares, con un arco con retención en sector anterior, posteriormente el acrílico rápido con los respectivos dientes artificiales ya tallados. El resultado obtenido en el lapso de cuatro semanas considerando la medición respectiva, siendo esta de, veintiocho milímetros de espacio interdental de canino a canino inicialmente, evidenció durante la primera semana la pérdida de una medida; las tres siguientes se mantuvieron los veintisiete milímetros de espacio, comprobando que el uso del aparato de manera cuidadosa y constante genera resultados positivos al tratamiento. En conclusión el uso de mantenedor fijo y estético, por las características del mismo: practicidad, eficiencia, economía, en casos similares al mencionado, aliado al monitoreo del profesional en Odontología en las respectivas consultas, al compromiso de la paciente y padres, devolverá el proceso funcional de guía de erupción para los dientes permanentes, favoreciendo la estética, salud oral, bienestar, mejorando la calidad de vida.
One of the most common consequences in children is the loss of early space deciduous teeth by tooth extractions and consequences of dental caries or trauma, the need to design an efficient way to counteract strategy motivate this case study, which aims to describe the technical and evolution of a fixed space maintainer in patients with premature loss of deciduous teeth the anterior sector as an alternative to restore aesthetics, function and length of the maxillary arch. Materials and methods used in the work are: arc metal bands and number nine, acrylic, artificial teeth. The practical process consisted of placing the maintainer set in molars, with an arch with anterior retention, then the rapid acrylic with respective artificial teeth and carved. The result obtained in within four weeks considering the respective measurement, this being of twenty-eight millimeters of interdental space from canine to canine initially, showed during the first week the loss of a measure; following the twenty-three millimeters of space remained, checking that the use of apparatus carefully and constantly generates positive treatment outcome. In conclusion, the use of fixed and aesthetic maintainer, for its characteristics: practicality, efficiency, economy, similar to the aforementioned, allied to monitoring professional in Dentistry in the respective consultations, the commitment of the patient and parent cases, return the functional process guide for permanent teeth eruption, favoring aesthetics, oral health, welfare, improving quality of life.
