In this work we study a selection of the prolific representation of the myth of Apollo and Daphne from the Roman period to the twentieth century. This is the analysis of a mythological narrative whose theme is fully current (woman victim of a conflict between two men) as it converges with current gender studies. The methodological aspect consists of a double analysis that includes the basic principles of the formalist current and those of iconology. For twenty centuries the plastic differences have been the only variants in the evolution of the representation of the myth, we observe a tendency that locates the interest in the persecuted protagonist and in showing her emotions, giving a twist to the original meaning of the myth that punished the woman |
