Resumen: |
In this contribution the aim is to indicate the challenges that physical pain, as described in phenomenology, poses to the practice of focusing. If the results of the phenomenological analyses are right, then focusing has undoubtedly a field in which it can be useful to approach pain; but this field will be restricted to some types of pain, particularly those that admit a «clearing of space» and whose estimated duration make it sensible to ask for a meaning. Nonetheless, even with this restriction in mind, many interesting applications of focusing become manifest, especially as far as the reconstitution of the sense of one’s self and one’s life when living in pain is concerned. With this exposition, it is also the intention to show, with a particular example, the relevance of phenomenological philosophy for the understanding of focusing, as well as what the practice of focusing may contribute to phenomenology. |
