Resumen: |
Saint John Fisher, Cardinal, martyred by Henry VIII, life-long Chancellor of Cambridge, was the Bishop of Rochester and one of the earliest controversist theologians who contradicted the errors of the Lutherans. His works were widely quoted in the Council of Trent. He wrote no systematic treatises on the Blessed Virgin, thus his Marian doctrine must be found in sermons and books of controversy. This article is an anthology of his assertions on the Immaculate Conception, the Mediation of the Virgin Mary, her Virginity and the Mystery of the Assumption, with some thoughts on the historical context. |
