Resumen: |
This article explains the indissoluble union between love and truth, a theme which the theologian Joseph Ratzinger has discussed on numerous occasions. It subsequently examines the analysis that Benedict XVI makes of the concepts of eros and agape, leading up to the main theological assertion: God loves us and that is why we can love. On this basis an analysis is made of what Christian charity consists of, including the fact that its highest expression is holiness. Deus caritas est tells us that we can attain this though prayer and adoration, and this is a reflection of the love of God in this world, as is made clear in the first epistle of St John, to which the Pope refers to in the title. |
