PDF La pancreatitis aguda se define como un proceso inflamatorio agudo que tiene su afección en la glándula pancreática. La misma que es producida por una extensa variedad de causas, tiene como característica de que con cierta frecuencia se activa una serie de sistemas inflamatorios y antiinflamatorios de efectos sistémicos que van a conducir a la aparición de fallo orgánico ocasionando resultados que pueden ser fatales. Su principal síntoma es un dolor abdominal agudo cuya intensidad precisa al paciente a acudir en todos los casos a un Servicio de Urgencias determinando así su ingreso hospitalario. Si se presenta o no complicaciones el incidente de pancreatitis aguda se puede clasificar como grave o leve. Establecido así en la reunión de expertos en Atlanta 1992 (1). La pancreatitis aguda en niños es generalmente causada por infecciones virales, trauma, o medicamentos. Para documentar la pancreatitis, determinar su severidad e identificar posibles complicaciones, se requieren imágenes radiológicas, analgesia, reposo pancreático, y monitorización de las posibles complicaciones. Es importante que la comunidad conozca los signos y síntomas que debe observar en un niño para acudir inmediatamente al servicio de salud para su rápido diagnóstico y eficaz tratamiento. Acute pancreatitis is defined as an acute inflammatory process that has its affection in the pancreatic gland. The same that is produced by a wide variety of causes, has as characteristic that with certain frequency a series of inflammatory and anti-inflammatory systems of systemic effects is activated that will lead to the appearance of organic failure causing results that can be fatal. Its main symptom is an acute abdominal pain whose intensity requires the patient to go in all cases to an Emergency Department thus determining their hospital admission. If complications occur or not, the incident of acute pancreatitis can be classified as severe or mild. Established this way in the meeting of experts in Atlanta 1992 (1). Acute pancreatitis in children is usually caused by viral infections, trauma, or medications. To document pancreatitis, determine its severity and identify possible complications, radiological images, analgesia, pancreatic rest, and monitoring of possible complications are required. It is important that the community knows the signs and symptoms that should be observed in a child to go immediately to the health service for rapid diagnosis and effective treatment.
