The morphological changes that occur in the hard tissues of elderly adults represent a problem at the time of oral rehabilitation of this age group becoming more evident at the time of selecting treatment plans. This research work aims to describe the morphological changes of the dental pieces during the aging process. The present investigation was carried out in the Pilot School of Dentistry in the Integral Clinic of the Older Adult, period 2017-2018, where two patients who were part of the casuistry were selected, and signed the informed consent to be part of the present investigation, which was developed in two phases. The first phase was carried out by means of the analysis and selection of bibliographic references of diverse subjects about the morphological changes that the dental pieces undergo in the aging researching, in electronic magazines, articles, works of degree and books which have contributed knowledge to carry out this investigative work. In the second phase, clinical and radiographic examination was carried out through a panoramic radiograph of each patient, as well as an interview with each of the patients included in the study. This interview was structured with a standardized form. This study demonstrated that elderly patients present changes in their dental structures of physiological origin, being the change in color and tooth wear the most prevalent in this age group. It was determined that the most frequent pathological changes are given by habits such as bad brushing, or by eating foods that cause pigmentation, putting the health of the teeth at risk. |
