PDF Las crisis convulsivas en el área de pediatría es un trastorno que depende de la edad, se presentan generalmente en niños y niñas entre los 6 meses y 5años, suelen ser de carácter benigno, se caracteriza por la presencia de convulsiones de predominio generalizadas, y mayormente en niños que cursan un cuadro febril con temperatura mayores a 38º C o por infección del sistema nervioso central. El objetivo es determinar los factores de riesgo de convulsiones que se presentan en niños menores de 5 años en el hospital “MARTIN ICAZA DE BABAHOYO” periodo enero a diciembre del 2017. Los materiales utilizados fueron historias clínicas de pacientes menores de 5 años de edad con crisis convulsivas, el método se trata de una investigación de enfoque cuantitativo, no experimental tipo observacional, analítico. Los resultados fueron analizados en tablas simples mediante los programas de Word, Excel y SPSS versión 21. Los resultados obtenidos en esta investigación fueron que la edad promedio de los pacientes que presentaron convulsiones fue en la edad de 2 años con un 38%, con mayor impacto en el sexo masculino con el 74%, siendo la ubicación geográfica con mayor índice de pacientes la urbano-rural teniendo el 41%. Como principal causa de riesgo se obtuvo que la fiebre predomina en los cuadros de convulsiones, teniendo que de nuestra población el 58% fueron por causa de fiebre y como segunda causa meníngea que tiene el 18%. De los pacientes menores de 5 años el 80% fue ingresado a hospitalización y el 20 se quedó en observación de emergencia, los días de hospitalización con el 55% de 1 a 3 días, mientras que las recurrencias de convulsiones después de 24h se obtuvo que el 15% si presento un segundo cuadro convulsivo y el 85% no. The objective is to determine the risk factors for seizures that occur in children under 5 years of age in the "MARTIN ICAZA DE BABAHOYO" hospital from January to December 2017. The materials used were clinical records of patients under 5 years of age with seizures, the method is a quantitative approach, not experimental, observational, analytical. The results were analyzed in simple tables using the Word, Excel and SPSS version 21 programs. The results obtained in this investigation were that the average age of the patients who presented seizures was 38 years old at the age of 2 years, with a greater impact on the male sex with 74%, with the geographical location with the highest rate of patients. the urbanrural having 41%. The main cause of risk was that the fever predominated in the convulsions, having 58% of our population were due to fever and as a second meningeal cause that has 18%. Of the patients under 5 years old, 80% were admitted to hospitalization and 20 stayed in emergency observation, the days of hospitalization with 55% of 1 to 3 days, while seizure recurrences after 24h were obtained. 15% if I present a second seizure and 85% do not.
