The present work is elaborated to establish a comparison on the different forms of restoration that can be made to a posterior primary tooth. When indicated it must be done with excellent techniques and with adequate materials, It is based mainly on minimal intervention, that is, minimize the removal of healthy tissues. Despite dental caries being one of the most prevalent diseases in humans, dentistry has not yet been able to establish standards for its diagnosis and treatment; the decision of how much and how to seal a tooth affected by dental caries is subject to great variability. A bibliographic review is carried out with the fundamental objective to carry out a study of the theoretical knowledge about preventive, noninvasive and invasive curative treatments used against this disease. We present in detail the techniques for inserting dental amalgam that is made of a combination of metals that include mercury, silver, tin and copper. They are also effective materials for children and people with special needs who may have difficulty staying still during treatment. Composite resins or tooth-colored fillings, provide good durability and fracture resistance in small and medium fillings that they must withstand moderate pressure from the constant tension of chewing. Therefore, it is concluded that composite resins despite the difficulty of their placement and their higher cost, is the restorative material most used today. |
