The meningiomas are tumors of origin meningotelial own of the duramadre of the cells aracnoides, of the primary tumors of the nervous system they represent 30 %, in his great majority of benign origin, classified by the WHO degree I benign, degree the atypical II and degree the malignant III. The prevalence of meningiomas is related to the age between 40 to 60 years, more in the female than in the male, it has a 2: 1 ratio. Its location has a predilection in convexity approximately 90%, the other 10% that are infratentorial tend to be mostly benign. Meningiomas often have an incipient clinic, but when it manifests it is subject to its location, size and invasion. The management of meningiomas is correlated to the histological subtype and its topography as a cure is considered the total exeresis, since the subtotal is more prone to recurrence. In Ecuador there are few studies on prevalence, where a study of tumors of the central nervous system in 2003 to 2007 35% were meningiomas Universidad de Guayaquil. Facultad de Ciencias Médicas.
