PDF La presente investigación versa sobre la relación entre funcionalidad familiar y depresión. El objetivo general fue determinar la relación entre funcionalidad familiar y depresión en pacientes del servicio especializado de protección MIES-Portoviejo. Se aplicó una encuesta a 116 pacientes, de ambos sexos, mayores de 18 años. El tipo de estudio fue no experimental, cuantitativo de método trasversal con un alcance correlacional. La muestra fue no probabilística opinática (n= 116). El cuestionario fue estructurado con: datos demográficos, test Funcionalidad Familiar APGAR y escala para Depresión de Hamilton. Para el tratamiento estadístico se usó el programa SPSSV20, las medidas de asociación se determinó mediante la razón de prevalencia (RP) con un intervalo de confianza al 95%. Se usó el Chi cuadrado (X2) mediante el valor (p) Se encontró que la edad se ubicó entre un mínimo de 18 años y un máximo de 39 años y una media de 22 años, el sexo masculino fue mayoritario con el 50,9%, la residencia urbana sumo el 72,4%, el estado civil soltero fue del 75,9%; la raza mestiza del 93,1%; el ingreso económico medio del 73,3%; el 82,8% de pacientes presentaron disfuncionalidad familiar y el 86,2% depresión, existió relación entre la funcionalidad familiar y la depresión con asociación estadísticamente significativa según la prueba del Chi cuadrado (X2) y su valor (p) 0,001; (IC 95%:1,10-1,53) con una probabilidad del 1,18% The present research is about the relationship between family functionality and depression. The general objective was to determine the relationship between family functionality and depression in patients of the MIES-Portoviejo specialized protection service. A survey was applied to 116 patients, both sexes, over 18 years of age. The type of study was non-experimental, quantitative cross-sectional method with a correlational scope. The sample was non-probabilistic opinion (n = 116). The questionnaire was structured with: demographic data, APGAR Family Functionality test and Hamilton Depression Scale.
