Resumen: |
PDF Amalgama dental uso y seguridad. Dental amalgam use and safety. Amalgam is a previously safe dental restorative material made of an intermetallic alloy based on mercury. Currently a topic of environmental controversy and human health in general due to methylmercury toxicity. There are researchers who have stated that dental fillings could have adverse effects on very important organs and mental health as it is considered the most toxic non-radioactive metal in existence. The objective of this research is to determine the safety of the use of dental amalgam at a buccal, systemic and environmental level through the bibliographic review on the CI 2020-2021 college period. The type of research used is descriptive non-experimental and bibliographic. The qualitative, documentary and retrospective methodological design was applied in order to determine the composition of the dental amalgam, its indications and contraindications, restorative treatment protocol and removal analysis, the environmental consequences of mercury released through them and the risks for human health. For data collection, a random download of information on dental amalgam was carried out, which contains scientific articles and papers related to dental amalgam, human health, toxicity and environment. The results indicate that corrosion of the amalgam and lack of periodic user control is what can trigger methylmercury vapor toxicity. |
