Resumen: |
To understand the work of St. Augustine, it is necessary to approach the life of the saint. That life has already been treated in different works and it is not our purpose to focus on it; however, it is necessary to take into account a series of fundamental elements, since they are the ones that give origin to Augustine's personal experiences, those that explain his own categories, both the historical events he lives or the works he reads, those that give origin to those books, or that the saint asks himself questions that he would never have asked himself or that he would not have thought necessary to ask, but for circumstantial questions as it happens with the Pelagian heresy. This is how we intend to make a very brief journey through Augustine's production, and the circumstances that led to each work. The difficulties are, however, many, since the exact chronology in some cases remains unclear. In spite of that, we intend to use the present to be able to approach the Augustinian mind, since through his work we approach his life and the time he lived, the way he lived it and the way he understood his time and the controversies of it. |
