Resumen: |
In the 12th and 13Ih centuries the military architecture in Syria adquires special relevance, above al1 in those places related to the comercial routes and the frontiers. In this paper a study is made of these castles and their immediate surroundings where there is an outstanding mosque-monastery. The complex is believed to be a ribat, understanding as such a fortified spot, shelter and caravan refuge, and a place where the pious gathered together to defend an Islarnic frontier. |
