Resumen: |
St. Augustine was the great doctrinal authority of the West, exerting a fundamental influence during the following centuries, especially until the cultural movement that entered the West with the introduction of the works of Aristotle and the fi gure of St. Thomas Aquinas. St. Augustine, as Arquilliére (2005) points out, was passionately studied either directly in his major works or in extracts or fl orilegios. In addition, some of the most influential authors have also been imbued with his thought, such as St. Isidore and Gregory the Great. We do not enter now into the vulgarization of his concepts in later times, or in topics such as the political concepts of St. Augustine that have already been studied by Bernheim (1986). |
