Resumen: |
One of the central questions in the study of the barbarians* is, without a doubt, that of the ethnicity, identification and/or ethnic interpretation of the multiple groups of barbaric peoples* mentioned by the Greek and/or Roman authors since the time of Caesar, in the first century B.C. A matter that, and this does not cease to be important, is a completely foreign concern both to the Greek and/or Roman authors and, above all, to those we call barbarians*. The names, in their Latin and/or Greek forms, with which we know some of the innumerable groups of barbaric* people, are terms and concepts generated and elaborated at very specific moments in function, let us not forget, more of ignorance than of the real knowledge of the peoples that lived on the other side of the Rhenish-Danubian limes*. |
