Several remote sensing works focused about the Geology of the SW Iberian Peninsula, based on miscellaneous remote sensing elaborated products, illustrate that the classic analogical methodology based on the photointerpretation of geologic elements, partially known in the field, can still be useful as long as these elements have a physical magnitude adequate to the system resolution. Nowadays the range of printed scanner images, aerial and orbital pbotographs, and radar images is wide enough to permit the selection between the distributors stock of a suitable image, in which the studied element is emphasized and discriminated, making void any digital processing. Thus, it has been recognized that the elements easier to detect are the main, monotonous stratigraphic units, the fracture systems, some kinds of folds, granitic plutons and recent fluvial systems.
