Resumen: |
There are some well-known facts that make defendable the attribution to Cornificius of the fourth book of the Rhetorica ad Herennium. But there are also other facts – remarkable differences concerning purpose of the work, attitudes towards the Greeks and technical terminology – that make hardly acceptable, or simply unacceptable, the attribution to the same author of the three first books. So, we can guess that the Rhetorica ad Herennium we know is, in fact, the work of a third scholar, who joined two different treatises trying to give to the whole an appariency of unity and consistency.
